The other night, dinner was a homemade pasta sauce with noodles.
In order to keep the meal Sugar Detox compliant, I made squash noodles for my husband and I, and whole wheat noodles for my girls. While the whole wheat noodles were cooking, I fished one out, let it cool, and tried it to see if it was cooked al dente.
My daughter looked at me and asked, “Are you supposed to be eating that?”
That was when I realized how often I eat things without paying any attention.
While I cook, I’m often sampling and nibbling.
When I put a box of crackers away, I might eat a few on the way to the pantry.
Picking up my dry cleaning, I usually eat a mint out of the bowl on the counter.
Tackling this Sugar Detox was meant to reset my habits. It has definitely made me more aware of all the BLTs I eat in a day. Those bites, licks and tastes can add up to a whole extra meal if I’m not careful.
Do you struggle with this?
