The orange sauce is easy to make and provides a bright, sweet flavor to this broccoli dish.
When my girls were little, my pediatrician told me to get as many fruits and vegetables into my kids as possible.
He then said – if they refuse the fruits and vegetables you serve, find ways to make it taste good.
So “make things taste good” became my go-to way to help them fall in love with vegetables.

Steamed Broccoli with Orange Sauce Recipe
- 2 heads broccoli cut into spears
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup fresh orange juice divided
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Steam broccoli. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and 1/2 cup orange juice. Once blended, add the rest of the orange juice, lemon juice orange zest, thyme, mustard, and pepper. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add orange juice mixture. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Toss with broccoli.
