If you love all natural beauty products, you need to try this DIY all natural body wash recipe.
The addition of avocado oil means your skin is left wonderfully moisturized.
I knew I had a winning recipe when my husband asked me if I would make him more of this moisturizing homemade body wash recipe.
It’s not that he’s super picky. In fact, it is the opposite.
He could care less about the soap he uses on a daily basis. So when he likes something, it is super flattering.
The main ingredient of this all natural recipe is Castile soap.
Every natural home should buy Castile soap by the gallon! (here’s where you can buy it)
Castile soap is incredibly useful – not to mention non-toxic and gentle on the skin.
I chose to purchase unscented Castile soap and use essential oils to make my own scent.
This is a great basic set of organic essential oils at an incredibly reasonable price.
However, if you want to skip the oils, you can choose to buy a scented Castile soap, and no essential oils are necessary.
When you read the recipe, you’ll see quite a few different essential oils are used in this body wash recipe.
We find the scent of this body wash to be absolutely amazing!
While we love this scent, you can substitute any essential oil blend you prefer.
Experiment! That’s the fun of having lots of oils!
Guys. Get this. The moisturizing part of this recipe comes from the addition of avocado oil.
It may seem weird to add oil to a skin cleansing recipe. However, the avocado oil sinks in and does not leave a greasy residue.
In fact, the avocado oil so thoroughly moisturizes dry skin, you may find you don’t need to use any lotion after bathing.
The final key ingredient is vegetable glycerin.
Vegetable glycerin is an inexpensive addition to your body wash that locks in the moisture so your skin is smooth and supple.
Don’t leave it out! You won’t get the same results.
How to Make Homemade Moisturizing Body Wash
1 cup unscented liquid Castile soap
3 tablespoons avocado oil
2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
5 drops geranium essential oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil
5 drops rosemary essential oil
5 drops clary sage essential oil
Add all ingredients to a shower safe bottle. Shake well before each use.
Apply to damp skin in the shower. Rinse well. For ease of use, apply the body wash with a washcloth or all natural loofa.
I want to emphasize that a washcloth of loofa really is the best way to apply this body wash.
If you’ve been purchasing body washes, there is a definite difference in the thickness of this body wash. It is far more liquidy. So to get that soapy lather most people enjoy, using a loofah really helps.
If you give this body wash recipe a try, let me know if you enjoy the scent as much as we do!
