Cucumber Mint Water

Cucumber Mint Water
Week 2 of mission drink more water!  This recipe is pretty stinkin refreshing – and I’m not a cucumber fan. My oldest daughter loves cucumber, so between the two of us, this water disappears pretty fast.

Last week I mentioned why you might want to ditch the soda. This week I thought I’d share why more water:

  • Our bodies require water
  • Dehydration leads to headaches, fatigue and depression
  • Promotes weight loss

This recipe uses only two ingredients – making it really cheap. To make mine cheaper, I grow mint at home. It grows like a weed and it can handle the neglect of which I’m woefully guilty. And it can grow on a windowsill in the dim winter light just fine. That makes this recipe uber cheap. All you need to purchase is the cucumber. I like to remove the seeds from my cucumber. I dunno why. It just makes for one more step. It’s not necessary, so leave this step out if you choose.

Cucumber Mint Water

  • 1 small cucumber sliced
  • 3-4 mint leaves

Add cucumber and mint to a pitcher and cover with 1/2 gallon of water. Let steep for several hours and be sure to drink within a day or two.

CHEERS!

Did you see last week’s recipe for Rainbow Citrus Water?

  1. I love cucumber/mint water! I put a little fresh grated ginger and lemon in mine, as well.

  2. Karla, I have a pitcher of cucumber mint water in the fridge I just made. I’m going to go add ginger and lemon right now! Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the suggestion. Andrea

  3. I make decaf green tea and keep it in a glass pitcher. I recently started adding ginger slices and some lemon, too, like Karla! Delicious!

  4. I think its hard to drink just straight water too. I find that even adding ice helps, but I usually add a lemon, lime or orange.

Plus my doctor just told me that you dont have to drink 8 glasses of water, its 8 glasses of non sugary liquids 🙂

  5. Siobhan, I definitely count my coffee as liquid intake! Probably not the best way to get my liquid, but as we both agree, sometimes water just isn’t all that appealing. 🙂 Andrea

  6. That looks so pretty!

  7. I will have to try this – I love both cucumber and mint, but hadn’t thought of putting them together. Thanks for sharing…

  8. This sounds so refreshing! I have mint growing just outside my front door which I use often, but I never thought to pair it with cucumber. Thanks!

  9. Karen, Mint & Cucumber do seem like a weird combo but it really is refreshing. And both girls like it – which is a real plus in my house! Andrea
