15 Things You Can Do Instead of Eating {When on A Sugar Detox}

Things to Do Instead of Eating to stay on track during a sugar detox - or any eating plan really

While on my 30 Day Sugar Detox (I’m following this book), I’ll admit, I’ve been hungry. Or, maybe not even hungry so much as I’ve been bored. And I want to eat.

Here are some of the distractions I’ve found have worked for me. Please, please, please leave me a comment if you have any suggestions of things that have worked for you!

1.ย Paint Your Nails

2.Turn on Music and Dance

3. Do a Crossword or Sudoko

4. Enjoy a glass of herbal tea

5. Take a Walk

6. Clean a Closet or Clean Out Your Purse – {Get bonus points if you throw out a piece of gum wadded up in an old receipt found in the bottom of your purse}

7. Listen to an Audiobook or Podcast

8.ย Find a new book to read

9. Enjoy a shower or bath with a scrub – { Add peppermint oil. It is said to curb the appetite.}

10. Organize a Drawer

11. Vacuum. Or if it has recently snowed, shovel.

12. Find a new hairstyle

13. Write a letter

14. Earn Swagbucks

15. Call a Friend

So if you find yourself in a position where you want to eat, give one of these a go and let me know if it worked for you.

And as a BIG oh-by-the-way: Things I’ve found you shouldn’t do? Get on Pinterest or flip through a magazine. Both have delicious looking recipes and photos that are sure to make you hungry!

  13. Thanks for the tips! One of my favorite things to do is to practice my eye makeup. I’ve fostered a much more steady hand and its a great distraction when it’s cold outside. I also try to remind myself how sugar makes me feel personally and then it’s easier to say no because I don’t want those negative effects.
